  • 26 APRIL 1999: Dr Bob Livezey of NOAA will speak on Thursday, 29 April. He will speak in class and give the departmental seminar. Click here for background on his work.
  • 9 APRIL 1999: Project 2: Model validation discussion session dates and topics are:
    Thursday, 15 AprilPersa ( Tropical rainfall) and Jeff (Climate feedbacks);
    Thursday, 22 AprilManajit ( Surface temperature variability) and Giang (Surface energy fluxes);
    Tuesday, 28 AprilDave (Polar climates) and Phillip ( Blocking).

  • 23 APRIL 1999: Your papers are due to be handed in by classtime on Thursday, April 30th (this week), but feel free to hand them in sooner if you're done.
  • I'd still like your feedback on the chances of success of a "departmental tea break". Feel free to poll your student colleagues.
  • 22 APRIL 1999: Warren Washington of (NCAR) visited Wednesday, 21 April 1999. Since this was a non-class day, Warren spoke in a joint meeting with Dr Jenkins' Climate Variations class at 11:15-12:05 in Room 105 Walker. He gave a historical overview on climate modeling, including his personal experiences. His seminar covered the new aspects of the NCAR CSM climate model, presently in development.
