26 APRIL 1999: Dr Bob Livezey of NOAA will speak on Thursday, 29 April. He will speak in class and give the departmental seminar. Click here for background on his work.

9 APRIL 1999: Project 2: Model validation discussion session dates and topics are:

Thursday, 15 April	Persa ( Tropical rainfall) and Jeff (Climate feedbacks);
Thursday, 22 April	Manajit ( Surface temperature variability) and Giang (Surface energy fluxes);
Tuesday, 28 April	Dave (Polar climates) and Phillip ( Blocking).

23 APRIL 1999: Your papers are due to be handed in by classtime on Thursday, April 30th (this week), but feel free to hand them in sooner if you're done.

I'd still like your feedback on the chances of success of a "departmental tea break". Feel free to poll your student colleagues.

22 APRIL 1999: Warren Washington of (NCAR) visited Wednesday, 21 April 1999. Since this was a non-class day, Warren spoke in a joint meeting with Dr Jenkins' Climate Variations class at 11:15-12:05 in Room 105 Walker. He gave a historical overview on climate modeling, including his personal experiences. His seminar covered the new aspects of the NCAR CSM climate model, presently in development.
