Job Summary
The Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES) at the University of Colorado Boulder has an immediate opening for a Scientific Programmer to support NOAA’s Global Monitoring Laboratory (GML) work with greenhouse gas measurements and models. The modeling team within GML is responsible for supporting NOAA’s analysis of greenhouse gas measurements by creating simulations of trace gas distributions in the atmosphere.
The selected candidate will develop software to facilitate the routine operation of atmospheric trace gas models as a member of the GML team. They also will analyze measurements and model data with the goal of evaluating and improving atmospheric simulations of greenhouse gases. These modeling projects support U.S. and international greenhouse gas mitigation efforts.
Applicants for this position must possess excellent software development skills and a demonstrated background in scientific data analysis. Applicants should also possess strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work as part of a team toward common goals. This position is located in the Carbon Cycle Greenhouse Gases division of the Global Monitoring Laboratory at the David Skaggs Research Center, 325 Broadway, Boulder, CO. This position can accommodate a hybrid work modality.
