Summary
The ideal candidate for this position has demonstrated expertise in providing technical assistance to government agencies in areas affected by hurricanes, possesses skill sets to support incident management or incident support activities, has experience developing and implementing emergency response plans.
Duties
In this position, you will serve as an Emergency Management Specialist. Typical assignments include:
- Providing expert technical advice and guidance by devising and recommending new and innovative Hurricane Program activities and projects to FEMA Headquarters, hurricane-prone Regions, and other Federal agencies.
- Delivering actionable weather information to professional staff in FEMA, Other Federal Agency personnel, and staff from external stakeholders.
- Functions as an emergency manager or directly supports emergency management functions and participates regularly in efforts to exercise, validate, and execute emergency management capabilities, procedures, and functions.
- Building emergency management and support capabilities, as well as to maintain and ensure the readiness of such capabilities based on an analysis of risk and need and coordination with Federal, State, Local, Tribal, Territorial, nongovernmental organizations, and private sector partners across multiple functions, disciplines and mission areas.
- Will be assigned to one or more emergency management team rosters to be activated during response operations and participate with the team in exercises or help to mentor or evaluate fellow emergency managers.
